Keeping it safe in the wild
We love sharing trails, rig setups, and outdoor spots, but protecting your digital footprint is just as important as packing the right gear. To keep our community safe, keep these quick guidelines in mind:
- Use a nickname: Stick to a screen name or just your first name. There’s no need to post your full legal name online.
- Guard your location: Avoid sharing your home address, specific campsite numbers while you are actively staying there, or routines that show exactly where you live or park.
- Check your backgrounds: Before uploading photos or streaming, double-check that things like license plates, street signs, or pieces of mail aren’t visible in the frame.
- Keep private details private: Phone numbers, email addresses, and school/work locations should stay out of public feeds and bios.
Pro-tip: When you’re sharing coordinates or trail maps of your favorite off-grid spots, make sure you aren’t accidentally broadcasting the starting point right outside your front door!
